La obra del psiquiatra español Bartolomé Llopis (1905-1966) está alcanzando, casi cuarenta años después de su muerte, un prestigio nacional e internacional creciente. Llopis dedicó su vida entera a desarrollar la tesis de que todas las psicosis tienen un núcleo común, lo que él denominaba 'síndrome axil común a todas las psicosis'. Reivindicó así la antigua tesis de la psicosis única y relacionó los diversos trastornos mentales desde la perspectiva psicopatológica. Su aportación teórica está hoy considerada como una de las más originales y brillantes del pensamiento psiquiátrico español.
